An error?[edit]

"In game 66, Stockfish failed to make the most of the opening, which offered White (Stockfish) a substantial advantage." Huh? It sounds like Stockfish was playing against itself. Kaldari (talk) 00:18, 5 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Game 66 was Stockfish (White) vs. Leela (Black). The opening book offered white an advantage (on the first move out of the book, Stockfish evaluated the position as +0.93, Leela at +0.99). The first time the game was played, Stockfish failed to grow this advantage, and the evals were leveling out to zero. After the second restart, it managed. Does that make sense? Got it. The problem is that the sentence is ambiguous to parse. I read it as "Stockfish failed to make the most of the opening. This failure offered White (Stockfish) a substantial advantage." which obviously doesn't make sense. I'll rewrite it so it isn't ambiguous. Kaldari (talk) 19:09, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
