Some New Informations[edit]

Turkey picked Airbus Space for Turksat 5a/a

Xenophobic motivation under a satellite article[edit]

This device has not been a part of controversial events yet unlike its predecessor Turksat 4B, just because it belongs to Turkish Government immediately attracted bunch of xenophobic edits. Keep this unrelated controversies out of just recently launched satellite or move it to Turksat 4B article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.70.175.138 (talk) 20:30, 8 January 2021(UTC)

The protest mentioned in the article were against the launch of Türksat 5A [1]. I do believe that the section could be shortened, as it contains undue detail, but not removed. Please do not assume the intentions of other editors. Best, Caius G. (talk) 21:07, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I removed the sentence "there is no evidence to suggest that there are civilian casualties caused by Turkish forces in Nagorno-Karabakh" -- npov and there seems to be reasonable references to civilian casualties here on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casualties_of_the_2020_Nagorno-Karabakh_war#Armenian_2 Cheers, MonkFish45 (talk) 23:12, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good, thank you for being bold and (if I am not mistaken) welcome to Wikipedia! Best, Caius G. (talk) 23:50, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Armenian propaganda under a satellite article[edit]

I will not discuss anything as it will probably result in nothing because of vandalism on the page, i only want to ask something. To the date, i have never ever heard anything like "armed bombing drones" in my life. Its always "armed drone" and even google search find no results for that pile of words. What is this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Klevehagfd (talkcontribs)

Grammar[edit]

Second half of the article has numerous grammatical errors and run on sentences. Needs a quick clean up from an editor with permission. 2603:8001:9500:9704:5CBA:4D6:653F:6065 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 05:49, 12 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Extended-confirmed-protected edit request on 7 February 2021[edit]

PLEASE CHANGE FROM: Türksat 5A, is a Turkish communications satellite, operated by Türksat A.Ş. for commercial and military purposes. TO: Türksat 5A, is a Turkish communications satellite, operated by Türksat A.Ş.It aims to provide TV broadcasting and communication services across three continents. Ref: https://www.trtworld.com/turkey/turkey-launches-fifth-generation-satellite-turksat-5a-42962&prev=search&pto=aue

PLEASE CHANGE FROM: According to an agreement signed in September 2011, the satellite was developed by specialists in cooperation with Türksat and Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI). It was produced in Turkey by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) at its newly established Satellite Assembly Integration and Test Facility (Turkish: Uydu Montaj Entegrasyon ve Test) (UMET) in Ankara with 20% indigenously developed technology. Türksat 5A is the first geostationary communications satellite built in Turkey.

TO: None

Reason: Cited references are out-of-date, before signed contract at November 2017, thus all the information in this paragraph is incorrect. Tje satellit was not produced in Turkey. Also this paragraph contradicts the statement in the next parapgraph stating that Airbus Defence and Sape is manufacturer of Türksat-5A stellite. 9 November 2017, Airbus Defence and Space was selected to construct the satellite platforms for Türksat 5A using Eurostar E3000EOR, an all-electric variant of Eurostar E3000. Note: I confirm that the update requests are valid. I am TÜRKSAT-5A and TÜRKSAT-5B Project Manager and Satellite Program Director of TURKSAT AS. My aim is to correct the given imformation which is currently wrong, out-of-date and misleading.

re:the first request only, the English source says it's for defense. Gershonmk (talk) 02:39, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I have not implemented your requests for the following reasons:
  • Request 1  Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. The source you have provided seems to affirm that the satellite is for military purposes.
  • Request 2  Not done: Wording is promotional and not encyclopedic.

Drone Claims?[edit]

The section on the satellite‘s ability to control armed drones doesn’t appear to be backed up by it’s citations, The first is just a description of the frequencies and bandwidth the satellite provides. The second is an article from years before the satellite launched of an unrelated company Turkish company developing a satellite modem or UAVs, which would have been compatible with existing satellites at the time, and as for the ITU filling, I unfortunately can’t open .mdb files right now, but at best it may back up the claim that it could be used for controlling drones, but nothing about a broad increase in capability. As a reminder this is not Turkey’s first communications satellite.

The claims seem highly editorialized, if a better citation can not be found then the reference should be removed. 2607:FEA8:1FE1:F100:C991:B30:F05:CDB8 (talk) 13:14, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
