Inclined tower[edit]

Shouldn't the category:Inclined towers go in Chindia Tower?

Does anyone know why there is Targovishte in Wallachia as well as in Bulgaria?

It means "marketplace" in Slavic languages. СЛУЖБА (talk) 03:46, 18 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Second Bulgarian Empire[edit]

The city was first founded during the period of the Second Bulgarian Empire in the 12th century

This is not referenced and I think that even if we find a reference, it would be just pure speculation: there's no epigraphical and no archeological evidence of this being true. bogdan (talk) 19:14, 4 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bulgarian language[edit]

It is derived from the Bulgarian word for marketplace "търговище" (pronounced [tərgoviʃtɛ]) and the city's name is phonetically entirely identical to it.

Actually, it's not pronounced "phonetically entirely identical" (tɨrɡoviʃte != tərgoviʃtɛ), but that's besides the point. The name is derived from Common Slavic spoken by the Slavic locals, not from Bulgarian. The language was probably some kind of South Slavic dialect, but naming it "Bulgarian" would be anachronistic. bogdan (talk) 16:58, 5 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
