The article Syrian Desert campaign (December 2017–present), along with other pages relating to the Syrian Civil War and ISIL, is designated by the community as a contentious topic. The current restrictions are:

Enforcement procedures:

Editors who violate any listed restrictions may be blocked by any uninvolved administrator, even on a first offense.
An editor must be aware before they can be sanctioned.

With respect to any reverting restrictions:

Edits made solely to enforce any clearly established consensus are exempt from all edit-warring restrictions. In order to be considered "clearly established" the consensus must be proven by prior talk-page discussion.
Edits made which remove or otherwise change any material placed by clearly established consensus, without first obtaining consensus to do so, may be treated in the same manner as clear vandalism.
Clear vandalism of any origin may be reverted without restriction.
Reverts of edits made by anonymous (IP) editors that are not vandalism are exempt from the 1RR but are subject to the usual rules on edit warring. If you are in doubt, contact an administrator for assistance.

Free Syrian Army[edit]

I do not see how/why their presencse isn't worthy/notable enough for mentioning or why this article has to specifically be about ISIL against Pro'Government forces when not too long ago HTS also claimed responsbility for an attack against the government, when you @EkoGraf even left a message on my talk page saying it would be best to put attacks on government forces from other groups such aa HTS on this article, and while HTS claimed only 1 attack which is not notable enough for the infobox understandbly the Free Syrian Army insurgent group has claimed multiple attacks against government forces in multiple statements they have published therefore, I think it is only right to include them in this page, just as on pages such as the American-intervention against ISIL other groups such as HTS ans even Ahrar al Sham and Jund al-Aqsa are mentioned as they had been targeted by American forces during their campaign which itself is primairly aimed at ISIS. Takinginterest01, the subject of this article is the military campaign being waged in the Syrian desert against the ISIL-held pocket of territory, surrounded by government forces, which involves constant SAA attempts to chip away at ISIL territory, and ISIL hit-and-run attacks from within that pocket. The claimed FSA/HTS insurgency in the province is a separate military event from the ISIL vs SAA one. The article on the "American-intervention against ISIL" is about an over-arching general conflict spanning multiple countries, like WW2. The ISIL vs SAA desert campaign and the FSA/HTS insurgency are, simply put, two separate and unrelated battles within the overarching Syrian Civil War, with the only common thing being that they are taking place in the same province. As a compromise attempt, I have created an article Deir ez-Zor insurgency (2019) for the insurgency. But, again I would like to point out Wikipedia's policy regarding giving undue weight to non-notable events, such as this insurgency, Wikipedia's policy on verifiability and Wikipedia's policy on using primary sources. Twitter posts and simple images, such as the ones you provided which are direct rebel claims (primary source), are generally not accepted as sources per Wikipedia. But nevertheless, I have helped start an article on the claimed insurgency and will help you in any way I can to expand the article. Let me know if you have any suggestions on how this can be done. Orphaned references in Syrian Desert campaign (December 2017–present)[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Syrian Desert campaign (December 2017–present)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

ISIL finally loses its desert pocket[edit]

@EkoGraf: I think that ISIL finally lost its remaining control of its Syrian Desert Pocket. Reports such as this one indicate that ISIL lost the pocket on September 5 (there are probably other sources out there reporting this, but I haven't found any others at the moment). Though given ISIL's transition to an insurgency and its continued attacks across the region, it's going to be difficult to determine an exact end date for this campaign. Maybe we should give it an end date when ISIL activity significantly decreases (or after the SAA & their allies ramp up security in the region). @LightandDark2000: Yeah the capture of the gas field should definitely be mentioned. But the article should stay open as you say when ISIL activity drops significantly. EkoGraf (talk) 17:14, 27 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
