Where did she go to high school, anyway? I know she went to Commonwealth School (I'm a student there, and her books are shelved as alumni in the library, etc.), but I've heard she also attended The Cambridge School (CSW), to which someone seems to have edited the page. I don't know which she attended just before entering McLean (though I'd be willing to bet that, per Commonwealth tradition, she left Commonwealth for Cambridge), but it seems to me that we ought to include both schools as well as find out exactly when she was at each. Also, haven't seen/heard any reputable sources for attendance at Cambridge School other than word of mouth. Nani 04:04, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I attend the Cambridge School of Weston and changed where she attended school. We have just recently read Girl, Interrupted in our American woman writers class. As part of our class Alorie Parkhill, a head administrator of the school who has worked there since the mid sixties, gave us a detailed account of how Susanna or "Sanny" Kaysen was a very rebellious teenager. She told us how she was supposed to monitor Kaysen's behavior and report to the very psychologist that ended up sending her to McLean. Alorie found this unethical and wanted no part of it. It is her understanding that the Dean of the School at the time (I forget his name), her father, Carl Kaysen, and the psychologist form the story came to an arrangement that she would have to be sent to McLean for psychiatric care. Alorie also claimed to know of (not personally) the English teacher that Kaysen had an affair with and also talked a lot about how it wasn't uncommon for this to be happening at the Cambridge School or any other school in the sixties. CSW also has an extensive history connected to McLean and many students who go to CSW have ended up McLean or visa versa. Alorie said CSW used to be sometimes called "an extension of McLean."

I think it is fine to leave both schools, however I believe it was from the Cambridge School that she ended up at Mclean. (Boxenoxen 13:44, 28 April 2007 (UTC)) ^^^[reply]

You know, it's funny, there's a joke (with a bit of truth to it) about Commonwealth students who can't handle the pressure and who end up depressed leaving for CSW. So I guess it's Commonwealth --> CSW --> McLean. ;) 71.233.208.207 02:17, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
