Merge[edit]

I personally think that suprapubic cystostomy should have been merged into cystostomy and not vice versa. There is cystostomy information that will not fit into this article but no suprapubic cystostomy that will not fit into a general cystostomy article. InvictaHOG 11:37, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

vesicostomy[edit]

Currently, vesicostomy redirects here. Is that appropriate? Are these one method, or two methods? I gather a vesicostomy involves daily insertion of a catheter merely to dilate the sinus; a cystostomy involves an indwelling catheter (catheter remaining in the sinus). stray sentence[edit]

People with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) may reqiure a catheter if they have difficulty urinating.

Does not belong in this article. Una Smith 17:26, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cystostomy/cystotomy[edit]

Googling the "cystotomy" spelling throws up 56,800 hits. Some of these are to pages using the "cystostomy" spelling, but many are to scholarly papers, medical web-sites, etc., that use "cystotomy". The Wikipedia article implies that the "cystotomy" spelling is a peculiarity of Patrick O'Brian's books, which is clearly not the case.

Given the etymology of the term, indeed, "cystotomy" would appear to be the correct form (as the Wikipedia article List of medical roots, suffixes and prefixes suggests). --87.113.84.70 (talk) 13:33, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I only have a minute to look at this, but it seems clear, cystostomy is a cystotomy used to create drainage. Is there an equivalent Royal College of etc for British terms?73.81.146.33 (talk) 18:00, 16 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks to Nyttend for realizing this wasn't a registered user, cleaning it up, and moving it back to the article namespace. larz (talk) 05:09, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
