Green Paint[edit]

65.39.208.99 noted that the dome in not infact copper, but simply painted green. Taking a closer look it seems correct, but I still can not find any reference to this. Everywhere I look cites that the dome is copper. Does anyone have any more information on this? Zhatt 19:36, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

According to the official guide book of the architectural institute of BC (Harold Kalman, Exploring Vancouver. Vancouver: UBC Press, 1974), the dome is in fact copper. could be copper painted green, I suppose.Bobanny 19:54, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've always known it to be copper, and there are a few spots in that picture where it seems you can see the pre-weathering shade of copper. The green here doesn't differ much from these buildings, and I sincerely doubt they've been painted. ;)--Keefer | Talk 08:48, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I seem to recall it being painted sometime in the last decade making it a lighter shade of green. In digging up that old photo from VPL's collection, they had a photo there from 1981 and it wasn't green at all. It's not a great photo; the colour is a little washed out, but it looks to have been more of a reddish colour. Still looks like copper though, and I can't imagine what else it would be made of if not copper. bobanny 16:37, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
