splitting[edit]

i think that the different types of 'sump' should be split up, and a general sump page created. there is potential for plenty of detail on most of the topics listed.

We don't split articles based on potential for detail. We split once there's so much content that it's an article within the article. ᛭ LokiClock (talk) 10:39, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it should be split up either. I actually thought this was a good article that gave me what I wanted. If I were to do anything to it I would simply move it to Wiktionary. I admit it's a bad encyclopedia article, but it is a very good dictionary entry. I'm not sure how Wikipedia editors prefer to deal with this kind of situation. Excavation[edit]

I have heard the term "sump" used in cave exploration. I think the article should mention something about that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.245.27.196 (talk) 17:42, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The word "sump" refers to the lowest part of a fluid-filled system. So a water-filled cave would qualify. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.149.173.43 (talk) 17:13, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Moving 'Sump' to Wiktionary isn't necessary[edit]

By opening wiktionary & typing 'sump' I can see that all the info that's here is adequately descibed. What suprises me most is that this word has up to 8 different meanings. Question: Can this article be deleted or at least a reference made from this word "sump" to wiktionary? aceventura1368 (talk) 4:02, 11 January 2012
