"Cataclysmically retarded"[edit]

What does the phrase "Cataclysmically retarded" mean? I think we should explain in the description of the book (or use a different phrase to describe the children). I haven't read it, or I'd put an explanation in myself. -Elizabennet | talk 21:25, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It means that the kids are really fast to showing that they are retarded and we can't have a section that explains the meaning of the book. Aha, I understand. My apologies, I interpreted it as an (insulting) attempt to describe the level of the children's mental retardation; I thought the writer was saying that the children were 'extremely retarded' rather than actually using the word 'cataclysm' correctly. -Elizabennet | talk 15:45, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Should we list foreign titles?[edit]

"Wees Geduldig Met Kinderen", as I have recently discovered from what I believe to be a reliable source (they had a picture of the Dutch hardcover for Nightmares and Dreamscapes), is the Dutch title of "Suffer the Little Children", and I was wondering if it would be appropriate to list the foreign titles. --MwNNrules (talk) 03:55, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There was a request at Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Assessment for constructive criticism regarding the growth of this article, so here are a few suggestions to help you along the way. First, it's definitely headed in the right direction. Some specific points:

While developing the article, keep in mind WP:LEAD, which states that the lead section should be a summary of the entire article. The story's history, genesis and inspiration should all be written about in the body of the article, perhaps in a "Background" section or something similarly named. The same can be said about the second paragraph in the lead, with similarities to Bradbury (examples?) and reactions to the story itself. If there's enough material, a "Reception" section could be created. How popular is the story?

He wrote that "Suffer the Little Children" had "no redeeming social merit whatever." Who is "he"? King?
it is described as an "effective chiller. Again, by who?
Additional information about the film adaptation is needed. Who is Bernardo Villela? When was the film made? What is a Dollar Baby? Any production details?

Meaningless[edit]

A number of references in the article are quite unclear. For instance "punishes Robert for her suspicions". What does that mean? And is asking the teacher "if she wants to see him change" a taunt? It certainly is not terrifying, as is implied.Royalcourtier (talk) 21:02, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
