I added a "dubious" tag for "Captain" Richard Self. I don't doubt that he may have later made captain, but during this era (and continuing to the present), U.S. Navy attack submarine commanding officers have invariably been commanders (O-5), not captains (O-6). It's certainly possible that he promoted to captain during his tour. I can't find a definitive source that is not a mere copy of this text. I suspect that this is conflating a separate concept (that ship COs are addressed as "Captain," regardless of rank) with his actual rank at the time. Holy (talk) 18:15, 29 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
