I thought that the word stringer came from the fact that jornalists sent their news by telephone or telegraphic wire. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.34.192.237 (talk) 22:33, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is no such thing as a "stringer" in law enforcement. The stringers mentioned on the police video show were working as journalists. They shouldn't be confused with citizen rats that shoot video and snitch people out to the police.

Wear one of those uber-trendy T-shirts, do you?

Vandalism[edit]

This page seems to have received more than its fair share of attention from folks bent on vandalizing it. I reverted to the last version I saw that actually looked like an encyclopedia, rather than someone's attempt at humor. Someone might want to double check my work to make sure the formatting is correct. Yeshuamyking7 (talk) 23:36, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism continuing on this page, as well as the Talk page. I have Stringer and the talk page in my watchlist, so hopefully we can keep the page vandal-free. Seems to be the same anon-IP continually hitting this page. Yeshuamyking7 (talk) 20:31, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ah the joys of wikipedia ... if he/she/it doesn't get bored soon, I'll block 'em! - DavidWBrooks 23:15, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
You or someone might want to go ahead and block 'em then, because he/she/it shows no signs of getting tired. Check out this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/74.231.186.160 . The anon-IP has mostly made "contributions" to this page, but has been a nuisance on a few others as well. Yeshuamyking7 (talk) 23:19, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It seems to me that Stringer (aircraft), Stringer (Surfing) and Stringer (woodworking) all refer to the same thing. we need to find a textbook that discusses the whole concept and combine them into one useful article, IMHO. I'll keep my eyes open, but may need help. --Nigelj (talk) 08:57, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
