  • ... that George Balanchine made the ballet Stravinsky Violin Concerto in 1972, a year after Igor Stravinsky's death, having previously choreographed to the same score in 1941? Source: "THE program note for George Balanchine's ballet "Stravinsky Violin Concerto" remarks that the choreographer used the same score in 1941 for an earlier ballet, "under the title 'Balustrade,' with beautiful costumes and scenery by the late Pavel Tchelitchev." Tchelitchev and beautiful costumes went out the window in 1972 during the New York City Ballet's Stravinsky Festival. No scenery and no dancers in practice clothes - these are the things we see first in the 1972 version, which returned to the repertory at the State Theater Friday night after an absence of a few seasons." Interesting ballet story on fine sources, no copyvio obvious. How about mentioning "Festival" in a hook? - I'd link to the concerto in the infobox, not the composer, in this case where we know the music precisely. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:28, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Per your suggestion, ALT1: ... that George Balanchine choreographed the ballet Stravinsky Violin Concerto for New York City Ballet's Stravinsky Festival in 1972, a tribute to the composer following his death?
I prefer ALT0 because it's unusual for a choreographer to use the same score for two completely different works, and I might use the Festival fact for another DYK in the future. I don't think it's possible to mention both Balanchine used the score twice and the Festival without exceeding the character limit. Also, in template:Infobox ballet, the music parameter is actually "composer," so I don't think it's appropriate to link the score. Corachow (talk) 20:19, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Fine, use the festival for another. - I find it confusing that the template says "Music" but means the composer. Not the same ... --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:52, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
