Also a Yacht by the name Stormy Weather[edit]

"Patterned after Dorade but with two feet additional beam, Stormy Weather's final form was the result of intensive tank testing with models. After an unimpressive finish in the 1934 Bermuda Race, her international career took off with back-to-back Trans-Atlantic and Fastnet victories in 1935 (both skippered by Rod Stephens). Stormy Weather proved to be a wonderfully comfortable ocean cruiser; the installation of a navigator's compartment at the foot of the companionway was but one idea that made her such a convenient and pleasant vessel. "Possibly"[edit]

I removed the following from the article:

The title was (possibly) taken from the name of a yacht: "Stormy Weather".

Encyclopedias do not contain unreferenced statements that are "possibly" true. If anyone can provide any kind of reference on discussion of this then it'd be great for the article. --Col.Kiwi 05:03, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fats Comet Cover[edit]

I imagine this article isn't much followed. I removed the section "Fats Comet cover", a cover by a minor short term band with a short playlist ("Google it").

It took some kind of chutzpah for a user, even a long-term user, to add a big section lauding a minor band to the Wikipedia page for a famous song covered by many famous artists. -- Cecropia (talk) 16:43, 8 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

many many covers[edit]

SecondHandSongs lists over 500 covers of Stormy Weather, many with free audio versions on YouTube or Spotify.^[1] Some of these must be worthy of inclusion in the list at Stormy Weather (song)#Notable recordings. That site also includes "Leo Reisman's orchestra version had the biggest hit on records (with Arlen himself as vocalist)", and an Ethel Waters' 1933 version.^[2]

Oppose per WP:RECOGNIZE and WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. There are only two songs on WP and this one is obviously the one almost everyone is looking for (pageviews). The proposed title would do nothing except make the article people want harder to find. There's already a hatnote for the tiny minority who wind up on this article by mistake.
