A fact from Stewart Iglehart appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 24 January 2011 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Not the only person to represent the US in two sports![edit]
Eddie Eagan won a gold medal for the US in boxing at the 1920 Summer Olympics, and another gold medal in the four-man bobsled at the 1932 Winter Olympics. It may be true that Iglehart was the only person to represent the US internationally in two different team sports, but I suspect that the fact (unfortunately listed on the front page of Wikipedia) is simply incorrect. Wow that is a pretty glaring omission I took the information out of his United States Hockey Hall of Fame biography it states: "Stewart Iglehart occupies a unique position in American sports, being the only man to have represented the United States internationally in two sports: hockey on the 1933 World Championship Team and polo in the 1936 International Match." I'll change the article. It mentions nothing about them being specifically team sports and I expected something coming from the United States Hockey Hall of Fame to be reliable.--Mo Rock...Monstrous(leech44) 00:40, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Shaun White has also represented the US in two sports - skateboarding and snowboarding - though only one (snowboarding) was at an Olympic Games. His representations as a skateboarder were at the X-Games which, while internationally recognised, may not qualify as official representation of the US. Given the first example, I'm not sure you could even say Iglehart is the only person to have represented the US in two different sports at the Olympic Games.
