Comment[edit]

Where in God's name is "By the Waters of Babylon?" 129.7.131.202 06:38, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also it's quite annoyingly drull that any affiliation with "Dear Adolf" broadcast by the NBC Red network in cooperation with the Council for Democracy, isn't noted anywhere.. Here is the link to Archives: http://archive.org/details/DearAdolf There is no information about it much elsewhere, if anyone else is informed on the subject of zionism it seems Benét worked with.. — Preceding unsigned comment added by GenericDrone (talkcontribs) 06:04, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

High school[edit]

I am trying to update high school affiliations for Lehigh Valley people. Does anyone know where he went to high school? PAWiki 18:57, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, it's right on Benet's Wikipedia page: Albany Academy, right? As I recollect, Benet left the Lehigh Valley only six months after he was born. Nyutko 00:05, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. I see that now. Thought at first it might have been a college, but I assume its a private high school. PAWiki 00:49, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It is a private school in Albany NY. Herman Melville also went there. 100.36.247.98 (talk) 17:46, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Short Stories[edit]

Two more short stories followed "The Devil and Daniel Webster" called "Daniel Webster and the Sea Serpent" and "Daniel Webster and the Ides of March", 1937 and 1939 respectively. Should a new short stories section be added? Or should these be added under "Selected Works"? Collegelife101 04:26, 24 January 2007 (UTC) what? does it matter? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.253.128.27 (talk) 14:14, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Missing info[edit]

"Benet published his book at age 17." What book? There is no referent for this sentence. Also the author's name always has an acute accent mark over the last 'e,' which seems to be observed only about every other time it is written here. My favorite example is "Benet's brother, William Rose Benét..." who is credited later in the sentence for writing "Benet's Literary Encyclopedia." Oh well, I guess consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds like mine. Billcito (talk) 17:39, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Benet House - genuine controversy or typo?[edit]

I have removed from the Benet House paragaph the puzzling line "This paragraph is incorrect." It seemed to be a meta comment and as such better placed on this page, if anywhere. Most confusingly, it was added as part of Clwa93's 2013-09-09 edit in which he significantly expanded on the paragraph with additional information which seems to justify and amplify the original two sentences. If Clwa1963 did see any error in the first two sentences, that user seems to have forgotten to include it. It seems more likely that the puzzling sentence was included accidentally. Legacy section[edit]

Our article on The Devil Went Down to Georgia makes note of Benét‘s influence on the band, whose poem "The Mountain Whippoorwill" inspired Charlie Daniels to write the tune. I think this should be added to the legacy section. Viriditas (talk) 03:04, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
