Article Expansion[edit]

I'm working on a large addition to this article. The Stanhope & Tyne is a fascinating little line, perhaps not the most important in railway history, but deserving of more than a couple of paragraphs.

It grew into quite an extensive system, and initially I just wanted to see a route diagram, to locate all the junctions and deviations that are so glibly mentioned by name in the sources. In the course of digging out that information I discovered what a complex history it had, even up to the 20th century, when it was affected by the high-profile closure of the Consett steelworks. So I found I was also doing an account of it's development, partly to explain the diagrams, and partly to get my head round it.

I just wanted to raise a flag before I dump my content on the current page. If no-one else is working on an update, then I will add my draft sometime next week (still have to work out some wrinkles with the BSIcon stuff). Swiveler (talk) 08:54, 6 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OK, thanks; how's that project going? Afterbrunel (talk) 11:37, 12 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
