Does this church line up with his feast day?[edit]
Are there any Wikipedians who are also marine navigators I wonder? This Saint's feast day is the third of July and so I was wondering if the church axis (which is not exactly east-west) lines up with the sunrise on this day, or whether this alignment was simply to fit the plot of land. The building of this church pre-dates the houses along the road so it is possible that the plot was chosen to give this alignment. It is known that the architect was a stickler for little details – was this one of them? The are two small star windows in the east wall which can be seen all the way down each aisle, and from the west end they appear to be at the hight of the horizon. This might just be coincidence, but if it has occurred to me then surly it would have occurred to Sir Edward Brantwood Maufe to design it so. However, I am not sure which way up to hold a ephemeris let alone read one myself in order to confirm this.--Aspro (talk) 18:13, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
