WikiProject class rating[edit]

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as stub, and the rating on other projects was brought up to Stub class. BetacommandBot 10:38, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Someone else should revise this. Edward G Nilges has his years or facts wrong. I have the 1966-1967 St Viator Yearbook, which came out in June 1967 and Ted's picture is in there as a graduating Senior. My photo is in there in the freshman class. It's possible Ted was expelled near the end of the year (spring 1967) and they forgot to exclude his pic. But he was long gone from high school by the fall of 1967, so someone who knows should fix these facts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.13.182.195 (talk) 02:17, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ted Nugent[edit]

Ted Nugent did attend St. Viator and was in my class and my homeroom. However, he was expelled based on his conduct and did not graduate from Viator.

The family and the article say that Nugent graduated but he did not. In a scene in the cafeteria in the spring term of 1966, Nugent was called an "instigator" by one of the priests and he did not return to the senior class in the fall of 1967. He had been expelled. The article needs confirmation of this fact which wouldn't be in suburban newspapers since they are not accurate and they are not fact checked lest they offend families who buy advertising space, including members of the Nugent family. I suggest that someone in the Arlington Heights area confirm what I've written by contacting St. Viator.

If Nugent is selected by Sarah Palin as her running mate in 2012 (a nightmare scenario but a possibility) then this issue will be important, because like George Bush (the worst President in American history) Nugent acted very irresponsibly when young (and continues to do so today). This issue should be cleared up. I know for a fact that he did not graduate from St. Viator.

Hello Mr. Nilges!

I have restored the edits that you changed, including the replacement of the reference that you removed.

One of the core policies of wikipedia is its policy concerning verfiability. In short, claims, especially extraordinary claims, require sourcing from reliable sources. While, in principle, I agree that newspapers tend to get their facts wrong a lot more often than most people suspect, newspapers are generally considered to meet with the reliable sources standard set down by wikipedia. The edit, as it stands now, is supported by a reliable source. Your claim, as of yet, is not. If you (or any other editor) can produce such a source, then please edit the article accordingly ,and make sure to properly cite your resource. Best of luck, and happy editing! As I have said, suburban newspapers are not reliable sources because they are too beholden to advertising sources to offend powerful people such as the Nugents who like the Palins were not to be "messed with". I am an eyewitness to these events. However, I understand wikipedia's policies on sources and will not revert the edit. I can probably get email confirmation from the St Viator alumni association that Ted did not graduate. Will this be sufficient?

Nugent did not appear in the fall of 1966 when the class of 1967 started its senior year to the best of my recollection. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.218.138.179 (talk) 17:31, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

5 May 2010: I have again removed the listing of Ted Nugent from the list of "Notable Alumni". He did not graduate from St. Viator: cf. http://www.saintviator.com/alumniasp/ for a listing of St Viator Alumni.

I have again restored the deletion. Whether he graduated or not is irrelevant. That we can confirm he attended (and no one here is disputing that) is all that matters. To do otherwise is an attempt to censorship, and is not appreciated here. Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools/Article guidelines#Alumni which states All alumni meeting these (notability) criteria are to be included on an alumni list, regardless of how much time they have spent on a school roll, from one day to several years, and whether or not they graduated.
Further attempts to censor this article will be regarded as vandalism, and will be handled accordingly. LonelyBeacon (talk) 11:12, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Message concerning Ted Nugent from Ed Nilges Viator 1967 5 May 2010
One learns something new every day. I was surprised to see that Wikipedia will count as a "notable alumni" any "famous" person, including a jerk like Nugent (who I agree is notable as are many Fascist thugs), who attended a school for one day.
I then checked the unabridged OED to discover that "alumni" can mean a former student who was chucked out as was Nugent. US usage is different, but it looks like that clown Nugent will have to stay. One good thing is that I now am a "alumnus" of Princeton, since I took two classes for credit.
I have no references for his being expelled, and given that his Mom was a power in Mount Prospect, this story was completely hushed up. Pity, since he's a Fascist thug. Ignorant, too: I was writing a fugue in math class, guy asked me what sort of "song" I was writing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.203.210.124 (talk) 11:55, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am a graduate of the school from the class of 82. I was a fan of his music back in the late 70's I was told by a brother about Ted Nugent and he told me Ted played a show at the school and went on stage in a jockstrap and was then kicked out

Fair use rationale for Image:SVHS logo.png[edit]

Image:SVHS logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

re: adding Dante Warren[edit]

Whoever keeps trying to add Dante Warren: please read WP:ATHLETE and Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools/Article guidelines#Alumni. Virtually all collegiate athletes do not meet the guidelines for notability, and should not be added to a school article as notable alumni, even if they set a minor record as a high school player. In general, to be added as "notable alumni", the person in question needs to be the subject, or eligible to be tbe subject of a wikipedia article (that means, must meet general notability requirements. That is not an absolute, but it is a general guideline that I think applies here. Unless Mr. Warren becomes eligible to be the subject of an article, please, in accordance with wikipedia guidelines, do not re-add him. LonelyBeacon (talk) 21:41, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment[edit]

I am bumping the article to C class. It is clearly not a stub anymore, and has enough referencing and structure to go beyond a start. LonelyBeacon (talk) 11:15, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Academics[edit]

It says in the academics section that German was not offered anymore starting in 2008, however, I was in the class of 2011 and recall the start of German no longer being offered in '09-'10 school year. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tigerdreaming (talkcontribs) 03:10, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
