--Summer Feast Day--

The date given for the marketday which was later suppressed is July 2, although July 3 is the feastday of the Apostle Thomas. Also, I remember reading that the patron saint of the St. Thomas Church in Filefell is Thomas Becket, not the Apostle and Thomas Becket's feast day is December 29, the day he was killed by the agents of Henry II. A more likely date for the marketday would therefore seem to be June 24, the feast of the Birth of St. John the Baptist, which remains a popular celebration in Norway and sometimes can get just as rowdy as it did in the early 19th century.67.52.199.50 (talk) 20:41, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
