I added the university info box and I'm working at removing the promotional POV. i rewrote the campus renewal using neutral language. I'll keep chipping at rewriting the article with a NPOV.--BoyoJonesJr 22:06, 13 August 2005 (UTC)

I've rewrote the info in the "a reputation of excellence" section an renamed it "Academic Recognition". I added more names to the student union executive list, moved the noted graduates into a seperate point form section, i created a new history section (it needs more info added), and removed some of the stuff from the first section. more npov to be injected later...--BoyoJonesJr 22:55, 13 August 2005 (UTC)

Endowment

Jesuit?

Is this StFX a Jesuit university? Or was it at one point? If so, this should be noted. If not, how did it get its name?

X-Ring logo

I believe that the description of the X-Ring logo is a sensible thing to be with the X-Ring history, the logo is part of that history. Now the only reason that I can see for removing that section (beyond vandalism) is the mention of the ‘’Discover X’’ cd-rom. I took the mention out so there is nothing in there that isn’t common knowledge so I think it should stay on the page.

• Please stop removing the X-Ring logo section. There is no reason for deleting it off the page so unless you can give me a good reason 141.109.34.17, stop doing it. Article title (Merge)

I am considering returning this article to it's original title St. Francis Xavier University. I really don't know why it was redirected to the current title when the word Saint is never spelled out in the official name, its always St. The article St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador was not redirected to Saint John's, Newfoundland and Labrador so i think that the same principle should apply here.--BoyoJonesJr 17:29, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

Mount Allison

Its worth noting that academically StFX is considered second best in the country to Mount Allison University due to Mount Allison's strong track record, especially their Rhodes Scholars. If you're going to bother with the MacLean's "rankings," which are discarded as inaccurate by most institutions, you should do prospective students a favor and note this. I myself go to SMU. I get the feeling that the individual who changed my edit is from StFX, and is operating with quite a bias. There is a reason Mount A has crushed StFX in terms of Rhodes Scholars...MedievalScholar 00:30, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

The article is about StFX, not Mt.A, therefore adding facts about other universities is unnecessary. Said info would be more appropriate on the Mount Allison University page. I must point out that "This is often argued based on Mount Allison's remarkable 46 Rhodes Scholars" is a very biased sentence, and sounds alot like an advertisment to me. --BoyoJonesJr 14:47, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

• * How exactly is that an advertisment? Mount Allison students have obtained more Rhodes Scholarships, the most prestigious award that can be obtained by an undergrad, than StFX. One should not build StFX up, according to stats that are notoriously inaccurate (MacLean's), if these claims can not be solidified by providing facts. It would be best to remove all MacLean's ranking info from the University profiles, and let it stand on its own on the MacLean's page. The bit about the research grants, for example, is a fact, and is good. MacLean's is purely opinion. It would be interesting to figure out how many Rhodes Scholars StFX has had, so we can add it to the article. That would add another fact to the article. Article Acting Strangely

I've noticed that the article has been flipping between versions, without anyone actually asking it too. Is this a normal? I checked the history and everything, doesnt make much sense. It is very annoying...like one second it will say one thing, then i leave for 10 seconds and its back to another version, then i try again 10 seconds later and its back to another version, without anyone actually going into the "history" or "edit this page" option. Summary

I removed the reference to 'Mount Allison's 46 Rhodes Scholars' as it is irrelevant to an article about StFX. I removed the reference to 'The University's actual total endowment' as it was worded in a pov manner + the endowment is listed in the infobox. I added a reference to the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council point. I changed "Academic recognition" to "Academics" to sound less pov. • New FACTS were added which you removed. Like Saint Francis Xavier's endowment per student ranking. If it doesn't make StFX sparkle, you remove it, which is a shame because this article will never be npov. Mount A's 46 rhodes scholars was there to support the historical trend of MTA over StFX. A citation was requested and was provided. Although this is wikipedia, and you can, therefore, censor the facts to meet your peronsal needs and wishes, you should avoid doing so in the future so others like myself can provide more accurate articles. History of St. FX

Shouldn't a section be added discussing some of the History of St. FX, such as BurMac, The Misogynistic "Prank" from 2005, Campus Expansion, and so on, and so forth? This article does seem to be an ad for St. FX, when it should be a factual article. ArickIdle 16:22, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Departments

I deleted the section listing every department because it cluttered the page and provides information best left in a link. I was unsure of how best to fix this, perhaps by providing an external link to the academics page at stfx.ca? Covid outbreak

To my opinion the section about the Covid-outbreak is not relevant for this article. Thousands of companies had outbreak, many bigger then this one. There is no data supplied that this is a disaster (as in deaths, ICU etc.). Removal seems a sensible option. The Banner talk 13:09, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
