Mock Trial[edit]

The "Mock Trial" section was not compliant with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policies (WP:NPOV). I edited it accordingly. Also, keep in mind that too many details about things that are currently going on at the school are not really encyclopedic, especially if they read as if they were written by students/school boosters. janejellyroll 01:53, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What NOT to include in this article (and what TO include)[edit]

Greeting editors!

Before adding or re-adding any content to this article, allow me to make some big suggestions based on some past experience I have had:

1. Go visit Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools to get a feel for what Wikipedia is looking for in articles about schools. There are a great many things that you can research and include, but there are many things that you may passionately feel are important, and simply don't belong in an encyclopedia article. Remember, this is not your school's homepage ... it is an encyclopedia article about your school.

2. Specifically check out: What not to include. This section outlines things that, even if you think they are important, will likely get deleted eventually, and would likely not hold up if the article gets sent to arbitration. Among the things not to include are events of short term importance like who is on the debate team, how far the team made it in the basketball playoffs (unless it was like a top 4 finish or something like that), the names of coaches or teachers (unless they are otherwise notable), this year's spring musical, etc, etc. These are all either unencyclopedic, or are matters of short term interest.

3. Consider having this article assessed by either the folks at WikiProject Schools, or at Wikipedia:WikiProject Education in Canada. they can be reached by the big links at the top of this Talk Page. People associated with the project will assess the article, and will give suggestions for improvement. This may help more specifically guide editors as to what needs to be added and what needs to be removed.

Please don't take this personally. Especially editors associated with the school will want an article which showcases the school, but keep in mind: you are not designing your school's website, you are writing an encyclopedia article.

Best of luck! LonelyBeacon (talk) 01:46, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Echo words of editor above. It is classic advice.
You are off to a good start. Just for existing, you are in the top 20% of schools in the country! But more than that, this is a comprehensive presentation of activities which is good.
Subsections need tightening. Please explain all abbreviations. Structure of student activities is not of interest unless much different than other schools. Omit point of view adjectives unless strongly supported by a scholarly reference. Generally, if you have a reference, you don't need the adjective. For example, if a team stood number one in the region, you don't NEED to say it is "the best." That fact is already determined by its standing which is footnoted from a local newspaper perhaps.
Keep up the good work! Student7 (talk) 04:09, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
