Dolphin section[edit]

Being that this article is about the artificial product, a section on the use of sea sponges by dolphins doesn't really fit here. oknazevad (talk) 03:20, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Luffa[edit]

I have just made some copy-edits to the article, and I noticed that while there are illustrations of Luffa and Luffa aegyptiaca in the Gallery, there is nothing written about them in the article. – Corinne (talk ) 04:40, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sponge offered to Jesus[edit]

"In the New Testament, a Roman soldier offers Jesus Christ a sponge soaked in vinegar on the tip of his spear (some versions say staff) for Jesus to drink during his crucifixion, as an act of mockery." :: Some say that the bitter stuff in it was opium (a well-known painkiller), and thus well-intended.
