Redirect[edit]

I'm going to try the redirect out. If it holds, no problem. If not, my bad. But I have a feeling that WP:SNOW applies here. --ScienceApologist 18:38, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well...the article needs work, and especially expansion in terms of other modern work on the field (beyond Steiner and anthroposophical work). I did not intend it to be limited to this, but have not had time to fill it out beyond the present state. Let's work on balancing it by inclusivity rather than throwing out the baby with the bath water. Hgilbert 01:47, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There has been no indication that there is any chance for this article to grow beyond anthroposophical considerations. I am not aware of anyone else who uses the term or would freely associate themselves with anthroposophy or its German equivalent term. --ScienceApologist 01:50, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I support the redirect. Once (and if) notable contemporary proponets of spiritual science are identified, who aren't anthroposophists, but who share a common (other) concept of spiritual science, something new can be created. --Pjacobi 21:57, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The definition of spiritual science is not limited to the spiritual science of Rudolf Steiner even though he is a rare individual gifted with senses registering realities beyond the physical. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.145.184.79 (talk) 18:06, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This has been going back and forth for years. Until someone shows reliable sources, redirecting to anthroposophy is still appropriate. Just plain Bill (talk) 23:05, 13 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have made an article to explain the concept "spiritual science", and it has been deleted by Onel5969. The term "spiritual science" (in this specific meaning) is not only used by Rudolf Steiner. It is also used by Martinus (Martinus Thomsen) and Steve Taylor (and others). And there are reliable sources for that. "Spiritual science" is not limited to Anthroposophy. To redirect it to Anthroposophy makes other internal links meaningless (for example in the article "Martinus Thomsen"). Alexandramander (talk) 04:14, 19 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion? Discuss[edit]

This article was proposed for deletion by @ScottishFinnishRadish:.

On the one hand, it is in a wretched state.

On the other hand, the term is widely used in spirituality. A Google book search comes up with many books with this as their primary topic, drawing from many traditions outside the two already covered here -- including e.g. Sufism -- and many more books that include it as one of many topics.

Synopsis: it would be a massive task to try to create any sort of comprehensive article out of all this. I suppose that we could mark it as a stub and hope that people contribute...

I am not completely opposed to deletion, just trying to engage with the possibilities in view. Clean Copytalk 14:24, 21 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Clean Copy, I think adding "Rudolf Steiner" to that search will help separate some of the wheat from the chaff as far as people just using that term unrelated to the concept in the article. The reason I prodded it was because it was edited away from being a redirect to Anthroposophy, an article in much better shape covering the same basic concept, and reverted when the redirect was restored. I figure at this point if there's a consensus to delete the article, or redirect it, we can get back to the status quo. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 14:37, 21 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps the best solution would be to replace with a redirect, adding a comment that we recognize that the term has wider usage, but until a real article is produced to replace the redirect, the redirect should remain. (I hope that one day someone will take this on; the term's breadth of usage is really pretty interesting.) The existing article could be stored in Draft namespace. New article[edit]

I have created a new and longer article. I think there should be an article here. The term "spiritual science" is widely used in spirituality. There have been 405 page views in the last 30 days. At least you could mark it as a stub and wait for other people to contribute, which is very likely because the term is widely used in spirituality.

Notice that the article begins with "See also anthroposophy". But term "spiritual science" (in this specific meaning) is not only used by anthroposophy (Rudolf Steiner). It is also used by Martinus (Martinus Thomsen) and Steve Taylor and Sufi (and others). And there are reliable sources for that. The article "Anthroposophy" is well-sourced but it contains many other subjects than spiritual science and the concept doesn´t stand out. This article concentrates on this specific concept and explains it clearly. Alexandramander (talk) 12:06, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think this is better as a redirect with a target of Anthroposophy, which covers almost the exact same information, and is much better sourced. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 12:15, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Alexandramander:: feel free to work on your version in the Draft namespace, e.g. at Draft:Spiritual science. I suggest that you invite anyone who has edited this article in the past to help fashion something there. When there is consensus there, propose it as a finished article.
