Is there any exceptations?[edit]

From the article; "Spicules are skeletal structures that occur in most sponges." What is meant by "MOST sponges"? It sounds like there are some sponges that don't have spicules at all. If so, these speices should be mentioned. If all sponges contains spicules, the article should remove the unclearity. 84.48.35.203 (talk) 12:50, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

contradictory statements[edit]

in this article, it states that spicules may be made of glass, bone, or spongin. however, the page on spongin clearly states that spicules are not made of spongin. somebody please clear things up —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.192.136.24 (talk) 19:38, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation page perhaps?[edit]

Since spicule is such a broad term, with diverse articles linking to it (many of them sponges) this article might better serve as a Disambiguation page, with brief definitions and /or redirects to the taxonomically pertinent article or section. That way when someone wikilinks to "spicule" in the future they will get an automated warning about linking to an ambiguous term. --Animalparty-- (talk) 02:12, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Why does "megasclere" redirect here?[edit]

Wikipedia has a real widespread problem with words linking to articles that don't use the word at all. 86.160.126.67 (talk) 06:42, 11 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. Apparently Sponge spicule was branched off from this article, but many sponge-related links still direct here. --Animalparty-- (talk) 23:10, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
