Fun fact[edit]
Did you know that when the Sperm enters the egg it creates a substance so that no other sperm can enter.109.150.234.140 (talk) 16:21, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
- cool! Yes I did! This is my username, you idiot! (talk) 07:21, 24 May 2023 (UTC)

motility[edit]
The article says the tail flails to move the sperm. Recent research talks about beating to one side combined with spiraling. 67.209.133.130 (talk) 03:29, 1 August 2020 (UTC)

The above anonymous user is correct. I believe that this is in reference to this research.
These are my suggestions for an edit.
Before:
- tail: also called the flagellum, is the longest part and capable of wave-like motion that propels sperm for swimming and aids in the penetration of the egg. Sperm motility depends on the 4 parts of the tail: connecting piece, midpiece, principal piece, and the end piece.
After:

Before:
The tail, or "flagellum", executes the lashing movements that propel the spermatocyte.
After:
The tail, or "flagellum", is historically believed to have executed lashing movements to propel the spermatocyte based on 2D microscopy. However, research into human sperm based on 3D microscopy now suggests that a spermatocyte's tail engages in a corkscrew motion instead.

- Partly done. The paper states that it's not exactly a corkscrew either, as that implies a simple helix motion where the beginning of the tail just moves in a circular fashion, like a ribbon hanging off a rotating celing fan. Check figure 4 of the paper. I hope I summarized the wonky motion consicely enough. ◢ Ganbaruby! (Say hi!) 14:30, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

- Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Living Concrete (talk) 20:34, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
