Article name[edit]

I propose that this page and all associated links should revert to South Bank Centre.

THE SOUTH BANK CENTRE remains the title registed with the Charity Commission for England and Wales for charity 298909 and the trustee body remains incorporated as THE SOUTH BANK BOARD Company No. 02238415.

I have serious doubts whether this latest rebranding will last any longer than the disastrous attempt to rebrand the Queen Elizabeth Hall as RFH2 and the Purcell Room as RFH3 in the mid 1990s.

I do not consider it acceptable for an encyclopedia article to be renamed to align with a corporate makeover, if there has been no change to legal form or the generally accepted title. --Lang rabbie 23:59, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think the article should match the commonly accepted styling, rather than the legal form. Personal preference shouldn't come in to it. Writing this 9 years later, the rebranding seems to have stuck. If necessary have a redirect from the latter to the former. Matt Whyndham (talk) 09:40, 29 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
However, I do think the article should explain where and when the current styling comes from (a rebrand in 2006-7? don't know the details personally) rather than silently dropping the South Bank Centre form (which I remember using in my youth, sigh) and moving to the new Southbank Centre form. Something like. "In 2007 a rebranding of the Centre was commissioned from <agency> with the result that the name of the organisation was now to be styled as the Southbank Centre. This form appeared on all the Centre's published materials from that date." Matt Whyndham (talk) 09:40, 29 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
