Zoo Area[edit]

Can anyone help that speaks Bulgarian? The zoo site (http://www.zoosofia.eu/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=25&Itemid=28) translates 360 декара through Google as 360 acres. However, Looking at Google maps, the actual area of the zoo comes out closer to the 23 hectare (230,000 m2 or about 57 acres) that was originally quoted (and is quoted in multiple other places directly from Wikipedia). Is there a local measurement that is being translated incorrectly here? If you include the park north of the zoo, it would probably be 360 acres (maybe more), but the zoo itself does not seem to be that large. Can someone elucidate? Hi and thanks for expanding the article! декара (dekara) means decare, a measurement which is commonly used in Bulgaria but does not seem to be very well known in other places. 1 decare is equal to 1,000 square metres. Hope that was of help! Best, Toдor Boжinov 13:54, 24 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I assume that "15 дка" I found for the size of the lake is just an abbreviation for dekare, and thus this is really 1.5 hectare, and not 15 acres as google renders it in translation? I will go ahead and correct the article assuming this, since that seems to be about the correct area from the satellite view. Donlammers (talk) 15:35, 24 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, your assumption was correct. дка (dka) is the standard abbreviation for decares. Best, Toдor Boжinov 17:09, 24 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Number of animals[edit]

I'm re-rating this as C-class now. One thing that I could not find in what I considered a reliable source was the number of animals. From the wording, the articles I found seemed to be taking the information from WikiPedia, which isn't helpful. Maybe someone who can search on the Bulgarian side of things can find a source for this information? One place I try look is annual reports if the zoo has them, but those are difficult to find when I don't speak the language. Donlammers (talk) 17:29, 24 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
