First appearance?[edit]

To my knowledge though Sodam Yat is mentioned in Tales of the Green Lantern Corps Annual #2, he does not actually appear until his 2006 reintroduction. His first appearance and creators should be changed to reflect this.--Marcus Brute (talk) 02:49, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If the original mention refers to him as a Daxamite Green Lantern, then surely the creator credit is correct (at least for Moore). -- Beardo (talk) 22:11, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Most Powerful Superhero[edit]

The Solicitations for the Ion miniseries during Infinite Crisis describe Kyle Rayner as the now most powerful superhero in the Universe, logically this means the same for Sodam Yat who is described as the Ultimate Green Lantern, that Kyle wasn't, so Sodam Yat is even more powerful than Kyle and logically the most powerful Superhero in the Universe. Note that it is 'Superhero' not being. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.245.134.232 (talk) 06:50, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid you are going to need a reliable source (WP:RS) for Sodam Yat being the most powerful superhero. Dlong 10:54, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also, Spectre in particular has often been described as a superhero. And, of course, as the term itself does not have a specific, uniformly agreed upon meaning, it could be argued Daniel Hall qualifies as a superhero as well, particulary considering his bloodlines. If anyone were to explicitly state Sodam Yat is more powerful than Daniel, I think the claim could be justified. Otherwise, it would require footnotes or qualifying text to indicate that the statement was one party's belief, and I question whether any such content regarding fictional character's probably ill-informed opinions of other fictional characters is really something we want to give much attention to. The ultimate questions would seem to be that (1) the statement is not explicitly made anywhere, thus continstiting WP:SYNTH, which is not allowed, and (2) solicitations do not necessarily qualify as reliable sources. Guardian[edit]

Should we add the powers of the Guardians to Sodam Yat , of course with mentioning that this only applies for the 31st century ? 89.210.119.53 (talk) 05:05, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, not yet, for a few reasons. The name "Guardian" can refer to many things. The Green Lanterns are not "The Guardians of the Universe" but nonetheless by policing, in some way makes them Guardians of the Universe, as in a natural defender, an agent of the Guardians. Just because he is the last Guardian of the Universe could mean he is the last Green Lantern to Guard the universe, and not necessarily a Guardian itself. So unless more information is given, for the moment its best to leave it be.

I think its worth noting though that Sodam Yat now resembles the Sodam Yat in the Prophecy that Abin Sur mentioned, where the mightiest Green Lantern would fall to the Children of the White Lobe. While they failed to kill Mogo, at the time, Sodam Yat was neither the most powerful Green Lantern (Until he became Ion), nor looked the way he did in the prophecy till now. Its at least a bit of foreshadowing.(24.42.110.17 (talk) 03:34, 19 October 2008 (UTC))[reply]

The prophesy was about the blackest night which obviously happened in the past and didnt came true considering Sodam Yat is still alive and Mogo is destroyed . Also for the Guardian part we should wait , if he is a Guardian we will see ... Retroqqq (talk) 00:31, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion[edit]

What exactly needs to be acheived to stop this being deleted? More "real world" references? I understand the article only references comics so is not notable for that but I think Sodam deserves his own article. Would a "reception" section be enough with links to reviews? --James B 16:09, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

Yes, that would help as long as said reviews give reception and significance for the fictional character, not the comic books in which he appears. The number of reliable sources needed to show that varies depending the quality of their coverage, so if two secondary sources give direct analytic and evaluative claims about the character, for example saying that he is one of the greatest comic book character of all time, then two would be enough. If there are none like that, then multiple sources where the character is evaluated in some way with regards to the real world should also serve to show that the character deserves a stand-alone article. Check Superman to see how that article demonstrates reception and significance in the real world. If there is no significant coverage for Sodam Yat, the article could still be merged in one the the multiple Green Lantern articles.
If you really feel that the character deserves a stand-alone article, you can contest the proposed deletion at any point simply by removing the PROD tag and explaining why you are contesting the PROD in the edit summary. Jfgslo (talk) 23:33, 14 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

===Sodam Yat and Power in the DCU
  • As far as DC is concerned Sodam Yat as Ion is the most powerful Superhero in the DCU. Can't argue with DC really. It doesn't mean he's the most powerful person, just superhero. --Killingthedream 09:11, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
