Image:Snettisham Railway Station 2.jpg.Well before tha village centre was bypassed by the A149, you used to go down to the beach along Station Road, and there was a level crossing at 52.8731,0.4832 I thought that the station was located there- and the photograph given was of the goods yard. I can't recall ever seeing a train- or even seeing the gates closed. The course of the railway is clearly visible on Google Maps.( A little further research shows Snettisham railway station. )ClemRutter (talk) 08:45, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How do you pronounce it: [Snettis-ham] or [Snetty-sham]?83.237.120.193 (talk) 23:37, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Lantse[reply]

You are going to have fun with this one. I can remember (poorly) talking to a 90 year old lady from Lynn fifty years ago, and she wasn't consistent in her usage, so If I may merely report. There were two other pronunciations. [Sne'tish-ham] (the ' being a glottal stop)and [Sn'- tish-'am]. There was a distinction between pronunciation dependant on sentence stress- :So she lived in [Snetish-ham] but It is in the centre of [Sne-tish-m] village.
I do know that pronunciation was location dependent: and in Lynn, it would be more clipped than in Cromer.
I am fairly sure, a new pronunciation was used by the Londoners on the new overspill estate in Lynn- they didn't even know how to say Hunstan.
I think that the discovery of the hoard, caused a lot of BBC coverage, and this would have acted as a modifier. ClemRutter (talk) 08:35, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
