Merging[edit]

The information on this page is generally redundant either with smoking (cooking) or smokehouse. I don't see a reason for having a fish-specific page. The information in the "Types" section is new, but could be condensed and included in smoking (cooking). Npmurf (talk) 12:31, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose – smoked fish is a topic in its own right. The article is quite specific to smoked fish, containing little overlap with other articles. It is needed as a separate article to give coherence to other articles on seafood and fishing in general, where readers are expecting to be linked to articles about fish, and not about food in general. Fish and fisheries generally have their own specific articles related to food: for example, fish processing not food processing, fish oil not animal fat. --Epipelagic (talk) 13:26, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose and Procedural objection as well. I completely agree with Epipelagic's remarks. There is actually a lot more that could be said about the history of smoked fish, I would argue that this article needs expansion, not merging. As for the procedural objection, normally when proposing a merge one marks the targeted pages with {{mergefrom}} and {{mergeto}} to notify readers of the proposal to merge. Fair enough--thanks for the comments. I removed the tag.Npmurf (talk) 20:11, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Health effects[edit]

Should there be info here? Crawiki (talk) 18:38, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you have reliable sources explicitly discussing the health effects of smoked fish, then yes. Beeblebrox (talk) 20:43, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
