Picture of Smithson Tennant[edit]

At time of writing, despite some effort, I have failed to find a verifiable picture of Smithson Tennant, and have a suspicion that there is none to be found. I'd like to be wrong about that, but...

I have discovered many incorrect ones. In particular, do not confuse a widely found picture of James Smithson wrongly captioned as Smithson Tennant. (James Smithson's image can be found on the Smithsonian Institution's website, as the donor of the money which founded it.) There are other spurious pictures which can be correctly identified by doing a Google Lens search on such an image.

This note is offered as a caution before any picture, purporting to be Smithson Tennant, is added to the article. IGE (talk) 05:20, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
