Superthruster?[edit]

Could some Sly and Robbie expert write up something about their music video Superthruster? I had hoped I could find some information here about who animated it, directed it, etc.

Palm Pictures produced the music video.
A company called Wonderland, based in London, UK, produced over 20 minutes of footage for the video.
On completion of the music video, there was discussion about producing a Wu-Tang Clan feature-length animated film in the same technique.

200,000 Songs?[edit]

Despite the attestation of the source, it is simply not credible that they've played on 200,000 recordings. Over the 30 years of their collaboration, that would be more than 18 songs per day, every day of every year. No chance. Tom Duff 22:49, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, the way that reggae music works is by riddims (rhythms), which means that more than one song can be on the same riddim. So basically Tom Duff, you can take each riddim that Sly & Robbie made and mulitply it by an average of about 10 songs per riddim. Blackjays 00:58, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the source of this estimate (Allmusic) says "one statistician estimated that together they've played on approximately 200,000 tracks, and that doesn't count remixes, versions, and dub". So the implication is they've actually played on 200,000, not that is an estimate where all their "riddims" ended up. It seems to me that it's obvious nonsense. 18 songs a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, for 30 years? Funnily enough it's now been quoted back at them in an interview, no doubt by some journo who has "researched" it on Wikipedia, and they up the ante to 1,000,000! Since Sly & Robbie have made so many albums, it will be easier to find a specific album if the albums were written in chronological order for the year of the production and not for the names of the albums.
