Controversies[edit]

Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples I will add information regarding violations of the Declaration that have already been committed against the Goshute people, as well the ways in which the proposed nuclear waste facility would infringe upon these rights. I will also clarify the nature of the Declaration (i.e., when/why it was written, who wrote it, and if the U.S. Government is required to abide by its rules). Potential Sources: 1. Effects of Nerve Gas Storage Facility on Goshute Population I will add information regarding how the nerve gas facility that is adjacent to the Skull Valley Goshute Reservation does or may affect the people residing there. I will look into the physical effects of this agent as well as the effects it may have on the environment in this area (specifically in ways which it harms the environment to a point where it negatively impacts the livelihood of the Goshute people). I will additionally look into how this administrations policy intentions might affect the potential impacts of this site. 1. http://www.redorbit.com/news/science/285387/skull_valleys_nerve_gas_neighbors/ 2. http://lists.jammed.com/IWAR/1998/01/0004.html 3.http://www.oddlyhistorical.com/2014/02/01/death-wind-dugway-sheep-incident/ 4.https://www.nationalacademies.org/hmd/~/media/Files/Report%20Files/2007/Long-Term-Health-Effects-of-Participation-in-Project-SHAD-Shipboard-Hazard-and-Defense/VXNERVEAGENT.pdf 5.https://www.health.ny.gov/environmental/emergency/chemical_terrorism/nerve_agents_general.htm Sunnylev (talk) 23:39, 26 February 2017 (UTC)Sunnylev ~~sunnylev~~[reply]

Feedback from Prof. Gelobter[edit]

A lot of good information here...but 2 big questions remain that need to be addressed: 1) where does this issue sit in the context of battles of the environment and native land? 2) why is this relevant more broadly for indigenous communities, communities facing nuclear risks, ej communities

finally, any timely issues related to regulation in the trump era?

Hi Professor!

I very much agree with these criticisms, however our group is having a very hard time implementing these things in a way that doesn't involve conjecture. The wikipedia community has rejected all of our claims that don't involve direct, specific incidences involving the Skull Valley Reservation. Given President Trump hasn't been in office long enough to really effect this tribe directly, there is nothing we can write about that isnt conjecture.
