Is this true?[edit]

The following paragraph on the current page seems a little... odd. Is this actually true?

  • In another famous episode called "Grayskull party 12 - Stumpy's revenge" Skeletor actually appears at a office of a large international firm and is seen performing routine secretarial work such as typing and organising the mail! By the end of the episode through a sad and lonely Skeletor is banished from castle Grayskull because of appaling coffee making technique. The danger of trivia sections[edit]

My concern is that allowing LOST, The Simpsons, The Sopranos or whatever to comment on each article by way of trivia sections massively exaggerates their importance. This is why not even the most specialized encyclopedia imaginable (think of a bird watching encyclopedia, for instance), if it wants to be serious, will include arbitrary pop culture references that are seriously dependent on the time the article was written. The idea is to write timeless articles, not date them with arbitrary references. PointDread (talk) 18:19, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Contradictions in Article[edit]

First off I'd like to say I found this an impressive read. However, there appear to be a couple contradictions that seem to need clarification.

  • In the 4th paragraph of "The Question of Skeletor's Head" it says "All versions of Skeletor (apart from the 1987 film) depict him as having clearly empty eye sockets, sometimes with either permanently or intermittently visible glowing points of scarlet energy instead of actual biological eyes." However, those sure look like eyeballs looking at me from the Skeletor picture under "The New Adventures of He-man!" If those aren't eyes, what are they? Is that perhaps a misleading image?
  • Also, in the 3rd paragraph of the "Skeletor's Head" section, it states "The two first "New Adventures" minicomics, The New Adventure and Skeletor's Journey briefly show the injured Skeletor without his cowl, the second showing him even with ears." There is also a reference[[1]], but it appears this is the former comic, and not the latter which shows his ears? Just two paragraphs later it says "Although Skeletor can clearly hear, he has never been depicted as having ears, even on the New Adventures toy."

Has he ever had ears, or has he never had ears? Is the movie the only instance in which he has had eyes? I don't feel as though I have those answers definitively after reading the section. Although I was a fan back in the day, I'm clearly not the expert on the subject needed to clear up these contradictions, I'm going to flag this area in an attempt to get some clarification from an expert. Will you listen to yourself man? Does Skeletor have ears? In fact, the whole 'question over Skeletor's head? In which particular universe did you think this would be encyclopedia-worthy? Seriously? If you want to go and debate heatedly with other such fanboys, there are allocated bits of the Internet for you to do that. Wikipedia doesn't tolerate it. Thulsa Doom/General Klytus[edit]

Power Sword[edit]

I thought that Skeletor's intitial motivation for fighting He-man was that he, like He-man, possessed a power sword, which combine with He-man's would be the key to opening Gray-Skull. The Tale of Teela Mini-comic[edit]

Unused Backstory[edit]

In an issue of the magazine Starlog, can't remember the issue but it was 1982, the original backstory was Beastman was the evil king and Castle Greyskull was his fortress maned by "Skeletors" his evil minions. I realize this never made it to production, but was an early concept mentioned in a "What's new in toys" type article before the release of the line. If I can find the issue I'll state the number, I don't think it needs to be added to the article, but I wanted to share it here.Davidac18643 05:46, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Status: Alive?[edit]

Yes, but in the context of the storyline he is yet to be killed off. No versions of He-Man have seen Skeletor destroyed and so he is "alive." He might be undead but he's still alive in the context of the story.

Filmation>history>Snake Mountain[edit]

Where has it been suggested that Snake Mountain was built by Skeletor?

A character in the filmation episode "Golden Disks of Knowledge" states that Skeletor used the Golden Disks of Knowledge to build Snake Mountain and that he built Snake Mountain to conceal these disks.--BruceGrubb (talk) 10:57, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Chronology[edit]

I think that the Minicomic section should precede the cartoon section. The Minicomics were the first to establish a story line, not only about Skeletor but about the Masters of the Universe.

Also I feel that the previous picture of Skeletor on this throne of bones was more appropriate that the current choice, (8/11/07).

Skeletor's Death in the Film[edit]

Who put the 'citation needed' tag there?

MC Skeletor[edit]

The entry reading (at last edit): "* Popular Nerdcore rapper Jake Woods has taken on a side project under the name "MC Skeletor" [1], with Jaylyn Coffin, another popular Nerdcore rapper, as his producer "Evil-Lyn" [2]. Their work, ostensibly by the "actual" Skeletor and Evil-Lyn, is mostly parody in nature." is not intended as spam or advertising. The section on Skeletor in popular culture should well include this information, as Jake Woods' "MC Skeletor" persona is very much a use of Skeletor in popular culture. I am not Jake Woods, nor do I even know him (although, in the interest of full disclosure, I will admit to enjoying his music); rather, I assumed a popular culture reference such as this warranted citation. Perhaps it is the linking of outside media (despite a song and a comic strip also being linked) which causes this inclusion to be regarded as advertisement? If so, I imagine the citation of sources (the two artists' websites) could be removed, despite such a removal causing the information to be without proper citation.

Again, this inclusion was not meant as advertisement or promotion, nor am I affiliated in any way with Jake Woods, Jaylyn Coffin, MySpace, or any agents thereof. History>Filmation[edit]

I don't believe "Infinita" has ever been mentioned in the Filmation series by the Sorceress or anyone else. Furthermore, it was never established that Skeletor actually "rules" the dark side of Eternia.

While Skeletor was a pupil of Hordak, it is not clear in the Filmation rendition of Masters Of The Universe, that Skeletor learned "black magic" from Hordak. In fact, in an episode of She-Ra, Princess Of Power, Hordak had once told Shadow Weaver that his preference science over magic.

St Skeletor's Day[edit]

What exactly is wrong with this section? It's even fully referenced.

St. Skeletor's Day is a non-commercial alternative to St. Valentine's Day and is held on February 15th. People do exactly as they would have done anyway on this day, as if were it not a special day[1].

The observance was invented by comedian Richard Herring in 1998[2] and has been celebrated worldwide every year since.

Pronunciation of Skeletor[edit]

I'm a bit confused by the given pronunciation of Skeletor as /ˈskɛlɪtər/. I would have thought it was /'skɛlətɔɹ/, i.e. with the second syllable unstressed rather than the third one, so is there any reference for this, or supporting or dissenting opinions? --Susurrus (talk) 09:57, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Someone got it seriously wrong (Skeliter? Reminds me of the German dub.) and it went undetected. It starts off same as skeleton (for obvious reasons), except that the last syllable has the usual MOTU -or (Stinkor, Rattlor, Spydor, Gwildor), with a long O. The whole head issue[edit]

I removed it, in short. Wikipedia is not for fan speculation or essays. There were no reliable sources, and as such constituted original research (specifically WP:SYNTH). Elmer McCurdy connection[edit]

According to the Netflix series The Toys That Made Us (Season 1, Episode 3 - "He-Man"), the original inspiration for the Skeletor character was an encounter Mark Taylor had with the mummified corpse of Elmer McCurdy at The Pike amusement park.
