Page becoming repository for advertising links[edit]

As User:Katr67 noted when first removing embedded advertising links, the official policy Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not clearly applies here. Also, the section of Wikipedia:External links on "Links to be avoided includes: "Links to sites that primarily exist to sell products or services. For example, instead of linking to a commercial bookstore site, use the "ISBN" linking format, giving readers an opportunity to search a wide variety of free and non-free book sources." In the External Links section of this page, one already finds a link to the Chamber of Commerce site, from which a reader may already quickly navigate to Hoodoo and the commercial golf courses. There is no need to repeat them. Sprinkling the article with links to commercial sites is simply not a good thing. -- "J-M" (Jgilhousen) 08:05, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

First woman mayor?[edit]

I removed this sentence from the main article:

also it is well known by the townspeople that a women named jackie haelig was the first female mayor of this town and made history for doing that and for being one of the most well accomplished mayors of all the united states.

A Google search reveals no info on this person, if spelled correctly. We'll need a reliable source if this is to be added to the article. Katr67 02:35, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
