Changes Made, April 2024[edit]

Howdy!

I am currently processing Bishop J. Clinton Hoggard's papers. He was responsible for reprinting an edition of The Hand-Book. My interest stems from there. I plan to return to this article and fill out more content once I have finished processing if additional information is available.

The following structure/substance edits were made:

-The introductory paragraph contained a lot of minute facts that were not only established in the subsequent article but were not appropriate for the introductory paragraph, such as how many children he had, etc. The sentence: "When he was ten years old, he was apprenticed to a lawyer and worked for him for four years, after which he found positions at an inn, as a hod carrier, and on a riverboat on the Ohio River." was removed in light of this.

The following copy editing changes were made:

-Original article referred to Jones as 'he' too often. I replaced it with his name in some instances.

-Basic sentence structure and phrasing.

I have one query: The article refers to the church as both 'AME' and 'A.M.A.' Which is correct? This should be determined for sake of consistency and accuracy.
