It seems to me that Simbu is editing his own page. Reference to Nayanthara is quite often been removed. --Rrjanbiah 08:04, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Contraditions in the list of the films[edit]

The list says Silambattam, Vallavan were hits while the articles said they were flops.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 116.15.171.251 (talk) 03:41, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There are no longer any hit/flop tags in the table, per WP:FILM that they are hopelessly WP:OR. DMacks (talk) 22:28, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Birth year[edit]

As per this edit, we now have a previous source supporting 1983 and a newer one supporting 1985. Neither looks decidedly more reliable than the other. WP:BLP demands verifiable personal information and it's not clear we have that (actually neither source looks great, so I might say it is clear we do not have it). Therefore I've removed the year. Both sources agree on the month and day, so I left that information. DMacks (talk) 16:20, 6 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Now i had added a reliable resource -The Hindu, where the actor himself reveals his age. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.202.136.112 (talk) 02:17, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've again reverted back to the 8 March content by the above IP, since that sounds like a real (WP:RS) source rather than dueling facebook sites (fan/tribute-sites are not reliable). DMacks (talk) 19:57, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

According to IMDb, his birth year is 1983, hence it should be changed here as well. One of his movie came is 1987, in which he is very matured, looks like a 4 year kid. Hence, 1983 seems to be authentic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Emaillenin (talkcontribs) 17:37, 13 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Happy Birthday STR IndiaGlitz [Thursday, February 03, 2011]

He is a man of many talents. Silambarasan aka STR, one real multi faceted artiste of Kollywood is celebrating his 27th birthday today and IndiaGlitz wishes him all the very best for great years ahead. His new year is going to be one his best as all the films lined up this year are eagerly awaited ones.

Hindu article dated March 5, 2011[edit]

His career is almost as old as he is. Simbu dwells on his 25 years in cinema. Malathi Rangarajan listens in

Twenty-five films in as many years and he’s just 26! Remarkable achievement or plain luck? “After a point it is sheer hard work,” laughs Simbu ...

Clearly it's 1985... on March 5, 2011 he was 26 years old..on February 3, 2011 he was celebrating his 27 th birthday (was turning 26 years old) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.202.128.255 (talk) 03:16, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's hopeless at this time[edit]

For over two years more, this has still been edit-warred and there is still not agreement among sources or an authoritative one provided. Therefore, per WP:BLP policy, I have removed the year. DO NOT RE-ADD IT without getting consensus here. DMacks (talk) 05:00, 23 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

proposed move[edit]

since he is not commonly known as silambarasan, is it good that we move this article to something like Simbu? to apply with WP:COMMONNAME. Kailash29792 (talk) 14:27, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think Simbu is his nick name. In his films he is credited as Silambarasan right?-- Dravidian  Hero  08:34, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, simply Silambarasan would do. it is sometimes disgusting when unofficial and informal nicknames become the actor's official names, to the extent that they are credited the same in films. Simbu is among the worst cases as his real name is not as common. Kailash29792 (talk) 09:57, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I find stage names like Anushka Shetty (real name: Sweety Shetty) truely bizarre. Why can't they use the real name then o_O -- Dravidian  Hero  10:08, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (people). Would need strong evidence of universal and sole use of something other than "first last". DMacks (talk) 15:29, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What is his name?[edit]

For a long time now, there has been edit-warring over the order of his name: "Thesingu Rajendar Silambarasan" vs "Silambarasan Thesingu Rajendar". What is his actual birth name? DMacks (talk) 16:37, 27 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I see refs that call him "STR", which is in agreement with his name in that order by initials. Until someone has cited ref to the contrary, we'll have to go with that for now. DMacks (talk) 22:08, 27 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

 Partly done:
A change in social media handles is not sufficient grounds to change the name of the article. Additionally, the account you link to has been restricted.
None of the sources you refer to for the birth year actually supports your claim. The film was published in 1984, but it is unclear when it was produced. One of the sources is a dead link.
I updated the grammar there.
As your sources mention, Atman is a nickname, not a name change.
The filmography linked has been fixed.
I am unsure about the relevance of the additional works he has appeared in pre-1995, please support this with a secondary source.
Your suggested edit does not make sense to me; a film cannot be "critically acclaimed by the audience", it is either well-received by critics or by the general audience (or both). Please give precise figures when possible, and provide a source that this was a "turning point" in his career.
As far as I can tell, Vendhu Thaninthadhu Kaadu has not been released yet, but please correct me if I'm wrong.
As the sources state, filming has wrapped on Pathu Thala and he is no longer "busy with it". Please remember that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and follow its Wikipedia:Manual of Style.
The Taali Taali source is a dead link.
His commercial work does not seem particularly notable. The sources you provide are primary sources, which are not considered appropriate.
I'm not sure where you'd like to add that he is a brand ambassador, it does not seem to fit anywhere into the artice as it is currently structured.
Regarding the SIIMA award, the first source you provide does not support your claim. IMDb is user-generated and not considered an appropriate source.
The current infobox photo is more appropriate than your suggestion.

Removal of ATMAN TRANSFORMATION section[edit]

It is unclear why this section should be considered "notable" for this particular person, and in its present form it comes across as a poorly-written/edited puff piece. Strongly vote for a full removal of this section, at least pending a significant rewrite to both justify its inclusion and remove its quasi-hagiography tone. Sushanti (talk) 09:36, 28 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed it and added whatever I felt was notable from the section into a few lines in his career itself. Nasadiyaaaa (talk) 15:46, 7 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It was a hard put effort and why shouldn’t it be there ? The Atman journey transformed him. And it was a motivation to me and many. Hariharannaidu (talk) 18:35, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Why was ATMAN reference removed ?[edit]

The journey of his under the label Atman was removed citing it as promotion. What was the promotion here ? It is purely quotes on his transformation. If controversies are quoted why not a journey of bringing him back to centre stage not be quoted ? He transformed himself by losing a lot of weight by exercising and has been a mentor and motivation to many. Kindly bring back the Atman journey back. Hariharannaidu (talk) 18:34, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not the place for content like the ATMAN section, which is not neutral, sounds like promotion and is also non-notable for a celebrity of his stature. I have added his weight loss journey, in his career, itself. Everything I removed was, at least in my opinion, unnecessary, uncited and frankly written from a FANPOV

Regarding your question as to why the controversy section still stands, those are events of note that happened in the industry with citations. They affected his career and the industry at large. Nasadiyaaaa (talk) 18:41, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
