Sierra Leone Company did not establish a British Colony.[edit]

Sierra Leone and Freetown were actually not British colonies until 1808. Get the facts straight!

Such curt language is unwanted particularly when the so-called correction is inaccurate. As a colony founded by British people, it clearly was a British colony, even if it only became a Crown Colony at a later date.Harrypotter (talk) 18:01, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I found another source that I need to digest and analyze: The 1815 Google ebook "A Letter to William Wilburforce, Vice-president of the African Institute" found at http://books.google.com/books?id=7k04AAAAMAAJ&pg=RA2-PA57&lpg=RA2-PA57&dq=african+institution+sierra+leone&source=bl&ots=vC_Rx4mcty&sig=6hxV1VLh70N8kGSRMGVJNUKmTpw&hl=en&sa=X&ei=cLRNUobGK-T8yAHqvoGACg&ved=0CHAQ6AEwDQ#v=onepage&q=african%20institution%20sierra%20leone&f=false LTC (Ret.)
