Lucille Ball's mentor and prototype[edit]

Lucille Ball often credited Marion Davies with inspiring much of Ball's comedic approach and indeed it's stunningly obvious to see Davies in Show People doing practically everything Ball later did three decades later in Ball's television series I Love Lucy.
