Outdated reference used for article[edit]

Per WP:MEDRS outdated sources should not be used for references in medical articles. The primary source for this article on child birth is 50 years old. Therefore the mortality data is not current. —Mattisse (Talk) 04:13, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The reference in question (I assume we are talking about Williams Obstetrics, edition from 1971, 37 years old) is used for information that will not change over time, namely the prevalence of the condition and the fate of the baby and mother if there is no intervention. It is not used to provide current mortality data; two recent articles from developing countries are given instead.Ekem (talk) 14:50, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
