Course of the River Stour[edit]

The writer states that "however at that time the river entered the sea north of Felixstowe and so the area would not have been seen as the mouth of the Stour.

I do find in most unlikely that the Stour entered the sea North of Felixstowe and would appreciate a source code for this statement.Queros99 (talk) 17:43, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Shotley Gate[edit]

I'm proposing splitting back a Shotley Gate article given that its a separate settlement and ONS BUA and appears on 5[1] of my missing article lists namely User:Crouch, Swale/A-Z Mini, User:Crouch, Swale/A-Z bold places, User:Crouch, Swale/Bot settlements, User:Crouch, Swale/Navigator Britain route planner and User:Crouch, Swale/BUAs as well as 2 of its subpages, User:Crouch, Swale/BUAs/Revised and User:Crouch, Swale/BUAs/Revised 2. Concerns have been raised though that many readers may not know the different meaning content may need to be forked between articles however even if there is some overlap its still possible to have separate articles per WP:NOTMERGE #2 and #3. Although being an ONS BUA might not qualify it as a legally recognized place per WP:GEOLAND it is still likely a strong indicator of being notable. • Strongly disagree - if you look at the history of the place it's very clearly related to Ganges. That has it's own article and should be mentioned here. It's the same parish and is a small settlement - if it's notable we should be able to show multiple reliable prose sources about it and its history, not simply look at a map and some arbitrary statistics. Ganges can be mentioned in Shotley Gate to, there is quite a bit of text about Shotley Gate already. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:18, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strongly agree: Actually Shotley Gate has much more history than just the arrival of HMS Ganges - particularly in the development of the Cuckow shipbuilding family – which grew out of the Ferry established by John Cuckow in the 1720s. Cuckow lived in Ferry Farm on the site of what became the Bristol Arms, named after the 1st Earl of Bristol who had inherited the estate from his wife a few years earlier.Leutha (talk) 12:25, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Blue Square Thing and Leutha: I have started a draft behind the redirect from content in this article and I have added some more content. this conservation appeal for "Shotley Gate" mentions the pub. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:12, 11 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No further comments in months, I have carried out the split. Crouch, Swale (talk) 21:51, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
