Month of Birth[edit]

Shirley Henderson was born on 24 November 1965, not 24 December 1965,

Date and place of birth has been confirmed with Shirley herself. She was born in Forres and moved to Fife when she was young being brought up in Kincardine. It is surprising how quickly wrong information can propogate from one database to another.

Shirley Henderson was born on 24 December 1965, not 24 November 1965, IMDb got it wrong again; see below for confirmation:

    • Jesus! Does it really matter this much whether she was born in November or December? Okay, okay! You've proven your point. Do you really need to burn the message and salt the earth? No one's arguing with you! Just correct the error and be done with it! Jesus!

Her Voice[edit]

Can somebody properly mention that she has a very unique voice? You can listen to this by watching any scene that she's in in the Harry Potter movies or the Dr. Who episode. Thanks! MadScientistMatt 05:54, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

    • I agree! I came here expecting that to be one of the highlights of the article, but except for this small mention in the Discussion section, there's no sign of it. I'd never heard of the woman before the Harry Potter films (she's famous in Britain, but relatively unheard of here in the U.S.), so I assumed that her voice was either an affect she put on for the role, or the result of some studio sound editing. Then, I recently started watching "The Way We Live Now" on DVD, and realized that it's actually the way she sounds. It's creepy, but enchanting! And I'd bet it's one of the reasons they chose her to play Moaning Myrtle. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.4.206.143 (talk) 19:36, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • Seems to be her standard 'English' accent she uses in a few films. Her natural Scottish accent in every film and play I've seen her use it in sounds normal (and quite sexy as well). JamesCollins (talk) 00:43, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • 'very unique' makes no sense: there are not degrees of uniqueness. Henderson has the most annoying voice I've heard for a long time. Were she a ten year old it would be understandable, but she isn't and I do wonder if it is put on. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.185.216.86 (talk) 17:08, 19 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@MadScientistMatt it's probably better to describe her voice as distinctive rather than very unique, but I agree that it deserves mention.

It's funny that someone has commented that there are not degrees of uniqueness but then go on to say her voice is annoying, surely annoyance is very subjective! 90.249.6.186 (talk) 07:00, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Photos[edit]

In the article for Moaning Myrtle we have a photo of a very solid looking Shirly Henderson dressed up as Myrtle. Yet here on the article for the actress we have a photo of the very transparent myrtle as she appears in the film. anyone know how to swap the photos around? E-flah 15:57, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that is better. I'm not particularly entranced with the current picture of Shirley Henderson as Moaning Myrtle--I'd like something a little more adult--but the solid picture is better than the transparent picture.--Prosfilaes 12:38, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

if you look very closely[edit]

You notice that her doctor who appearance in named off twice above flimography-Change is coming and potter should have died I might be Trolled and I just don't care 19:03, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why the lack of continuity?[edit]

Does anyone know why Shirley did not play Myrtle in HP5? 68.218.243.195 04:42, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Because Myrtle does not appear in the film. Or the book. RolandR (talk) 00:00, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting filmography and awards into a new article?[edit]

MOS:WORKS says "If an article already exists on an author or artist, then a separate article for a list of that person's works (such as Jorge Luis Borges bibliography or Robert A. Heinlein bibliography) is warranted if the list becomes so long that its inclusion in the main article would be unsuitable." The current filmography doesn't show it, but Henderson has aroud 100 TV/film appearances, and dozens of radio appearances. I'm therefore proposing a split to a new article (see e.g. List of roles and awards of Oscar Isaac.) Any objections or observations? Regards, BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 12:19, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
