@Kaizenify: this is different in that Burston and Shimpling is the parish containing both Burston and Shimpling while this article deals with Shimpling alone. See for example that Brighton and Hove is an article about a current administrative unit while Brighton and Hove are articles about the settlements and former units. See WP:GEOLAND (legally recognized places are usually notable) and WP:DEFUNCTS similar to Nayland-with-Wissington and Nayland/Wissington its correct and usual to have articles on the current and former parishes if they have different names. Thank you for the detailed explaination, accepting it now. Kaizenify (talk) 14:44, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thankyou Kaizenify I moved the bit about places bordering Shimpling to this article but left the church bit since it appears quite important even for the entire parish. If anything there is more overlap with "Burston" and "Burston and Shimpling" since the merged parish was called just "Burston" for years (from 1935 when the merge happened and 1982-84 see [1] "Parish Name Change (Burston CP to Burston and Shimpling CP)" which doesn't give the date) and for some reason both Burston BUA and Burston with Shimpling parish have the same area and population (562).
