Regulation[edit]

It would be useful in all these bank pages to say in which juristiction they are regulated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Geoffsquib (talkcontribs) 16:41, 11 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Proposing updated content[edit]

I work for a PR agency called Lansons, working on behalf of one of our clients Shawbrook Bank. We're engaging as a member of the Wikipedia community having signed the official agency/Wikipedia agreement set out here Wikipedia:Statement_on_Wikipedia_from_participating_communications_firms. This means we follow guidelines, most importantly understanding we have COI, meaning we let members of the Wikipedia community decide (or not decide) to make changes for us. We have drafted a number of suggested changes for this page, which may be best debated through section by section. To start with we're looking to have the initial summary of Shawbrook Bank updated to reflect its history, as per other financial services companies. Therefore we have prepared the below which can be referenced via Shawbrook Bank's latest annual report (https://www.shawbrook.co.uk/media/195571/Shawbrook_AR15_Full_Web.pdf):

Shawbrook Bank Limited is an independent specialist lending and savings bank serving UK SMEs and consumers with tailored products designed to address a selection of high growth sub-sectors of the overall lending industry. The Group’s lending activities are primarily funded by a stable retail deposit book consisting of easy access and ISA accounts, variable rate long-dated notice accounts (mostly 95 - 120 days’ notice) and fixed rate fixed term accounts (mostly one - five years).

Shawbrook Bank Limited is an operating entity of Shawbrook Group plc. Shawbrook Group plc is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.

Shawbrook Bank Limited is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority and is a member of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

We're keen to get feedback and debate through any changes. Thanks. MichaelPWhite (talk) 17:55, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - The first sentence above sounds like PR speak and is littered with jargon. The second sentence sounds as if it an advert for the bank's products which cannot be included per WP:NOTADVERTISING. I have adapted and used the third and fourth sentences. The last sentence is again littered with jargon and intended to give readers comfort to buy the company's products which cannot be included per WP:NOTADVERTISING. In general you should always offer an independent source (not the company's documents) for edits. I hope this helps. Dormskirk (talk) 22:13, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Thanks for your feedback. We've taken it on-board and really appreciate your help with this. Based on your feedback we've got some further text to suggest, which has been drafted to best comply with Wikipedia policies. As always, it would be great if you could have a look and let us know if this content is suitable for the history part of the article:

In March 2012 Singers Asset Finance was acquired and then rebranded to Shawbrook Asset Finance in March 2013[i].

Shawbrook Bank acquired asset based lender Centric Commercial Finance in June 2014, now Shawbrook Business Credit[ii].

Shawbrook Group had a successful IPO with admission to the London Stock Exchange on 8 April 2015, raising £90m of gross primary proceeds to support the capital position and future growth[iii].

The Group was admitted into the FTSE 250 on 22 June 2015[iv].

I have added the information on the two acquisitions and the proceeds of the IPO. I am not sure that admission to the FTSE250 is notable given that by definition 250 other companies have achieved that status. I hope this helps. Dormskirk (talk) 21:05, 20 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for doing this Dormskirk. Much appreciated. MichaelPWhite (talk) 10:41, 03 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
