I'm thinking that the Big indian, new york article doesn't really merit a page by itself. Any suggestions or objections to the merge? Just as a note, the Belleayre ski center article may be affected by this. fintler (talk) 18:14, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
For starters, it looks like the Big Indian article needs to decide whether it's about Big Indian or Bearsville, or at least to explain the relationship. Other than that, I see no obvious reason the Bearsville/Big Indian article can't stand on its own-- there's probably a lot more history to the place that could be added. And there are plenty of precedents for very short articles on very small places. -- Mwanner | Talk 19:47, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Erm, I might have to retract the above-- I have never seen a hamlet with so little info online. So sure, I'd support a merge. If anyone comes up with a decent amount of info on the place, they could always change the redirect to an article. -- Mwanner | Talk 22:18, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
On third thought (having cleaned the thing up a bit) it occurs to me that what is there is a respectable stub that could be expanded by adding hiking info for the area-- there are a bunch of mountains nearby; see [1] for example. True, it could be dealt with in the Shandaken article too... -- Mwanner | Talk 22:32, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It has been determined through consensus that all verifiable locations are inherently notable, and warrant an article. –JuliancoltonTropicalCyclone 03:10, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
