2009[edit]

I made some edits for clarity, breaking up one long winded paragraph into three and removing the reference to Roger Stritmatter, which was inappropriate unless other contemporary members of the organization are also going to be listed, a degree of detail that the present "stub" does not require. --BenJonson (talk) 17:38, 17 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Encyclopedic article[edit]

Some recent edits have copied the mission statement from a website to the article. That is not appropriate for two reasons. The first is that all previously published material is regarded as copyright, unless there is very good evidence to the contrary. All potential copyvios must be removed. Also, close paraphrasing is regarded as unethical and is also a potential copyvio. The second problem is that an encyclopedic article should not be used to backup or enhance an organization's website. I have removed lots of similar statements from other articles on minor companies and organizations as it is a common problem where an effort to expand an article is made by copying or closely paraphrasing material from a website. In many cases such expansion is done by a supporter of the organization in an effort to provide a wider exposure of the organization's views using Wikipedia. That is not appropriate: mission statements are inherently unsuitable here (unless they have been the subject of significant comment in reliable sources due to some issue, and that issue warrants exposure). If encyclopedic information about the organization is available, it should be included, however the article should not be padded with text from an external website as a substitute for such information. Organisation name[edit]

On the website they are presently known as 'Shakespeare Oxford Fellowship' - this page's title should be changed to match. Jackiespeel (talk) 09:55, 14 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
