Shahab-4[edit]

The Shahab-4 is being made to put satellites into orbit, and not to be used as a weapon. Any information that is spread about this missile is guess work by people who are looking to add some new news to their sites, nothing more. There is absolutely no information given by Iran about this missile other than it being developed and that it's purpose is putting Iran's satellites into space. User:ArmanJan

The Shahab 4 is an ICBM, right? I may be mistaken, but can't all ICBMs be used for dual purposes (space/intercontinental offense)? It's probably more neutral to say that it's an ICBM, officially part of the space program, and leave it at that. --Chris Thompson 03:20, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The word "ICBM" suggests military purpose, and that would be a POV, would it not? It is always interesting to see the information presented on sites like FAS & GlobalSecurity as though it were a fact while they have no access to information about Iran's military & space programs what-so-ever. Latest revisions[edit]

ArmanJan, I noticed you recently made significant revisions to this page (about the system being shelved and replaced with IRIS). I read the following on FAS, "The Shahab-4 program is now believed to have been at least temporally shelved. (see the Shahab-4 section for more information.)", which makes sense, because Iran (for ages) has been saying they are not working on Shahab-4. The range info given on Shahab-4, Shahab-5 and Shahab-6 are actually those of Shahab-3B, C, D and Fajr-3. User:ArmanJan

Given that Shahab-4 & 5 have been cancelled and never actually manufactured what is the point in even mentioning them in the article (as missiles that never existed!)? Kiumars

CEP[edit]

The article says "a circle of equal probability of 2,400km". I see four mentions of CEP in the document (but it's massive - we should cite the specific page of such a large source), and all pertain to the Shahab-3. For that missile, they estimate a CEP of 2,3, or 5 km. Which is what you'd expect for a missile of this class. The Shahab-4 having a CEP of 2400 km has to be an error - presumably it's meant to be 2400 m. But where specifically is the source for that? -- Finlay McWalter··–·Talk 10:35, 30 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
