Early work[edit]

This article would benefit from the inclusion of information about Morton's recordings as singer, songwriter and/or producer, prior to the Shangri-las. This early work has often been overlooked.----Design (talk) 23:11, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I agree - feel free to add it, with a good source or two. Ghmyrtle (talk) 08:04, 12 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Inventor[edit]

Was he an "inventor" or an innovator. I can only find content describing inventive musical/sound effects. Thanks Manytexts (talk) 04:51, 23 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm removing the claim. It was added here, but is completely unsourced. Ghmyrtle (talk) 08:54, 23 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Place of birth[edit]

Per this edit the place of birth was changed (poorly) from "Richmond (VA)" to "Brooklyn (NY)". I have 'mended' the missing ']]' in the wikilink to New York (state), yet in the infobox the birthplace is still showing "Richmond". No sources seem to be cited to support either one or the other. Hopefully someone will be able to seek verification and correct whichever claim is incorrect. Best regards, -- Martix (talk) 04:26, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Update: Using the biography on AllMusic (confirming Brooklyn, NY as place of birth), I believe it is now consistently—in article text and infobox—corrected (and reliably sourced). Many more sources claim Brooklyn as place of birth. Regards, -- Martix (talk) 22:24, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm... Yes, most sources do state Brooklyn, but - for example - this obituary, and this one, give Richmond, Virginia. I don't know where their information came from. However, official sources like the New York Birth Index also give Brooklyn, so we should stick with that. Ghmyrtle (talk) 23:02, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Ghmyrtle: Fair enough; I agree that an (official) obituary (by the family?) 'outranks' any and all other claims. Thanks for looking into this. Regards -- Martix (talk) 10:22, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
