Shade COMMA the changing man? That's very controversial, isn't the title supposed to be Shade the Changing man? If no one objects, I'll change it. Sunnan 10:04, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The comma makes sense grammatically, it helps to clarify that "Shade" is a name (not a verb), and it appears in the copyright notice of the books. I can't imagine why you think it's "very controversial". Tverbeek 12:03, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Re-checking the copyright statement, you're right. I've only ever seen the series referenced to as _Shade the Changing Man_ before; on the front cover and in fan writings.

Fair use rationale for Image:Shade the changing man22.jpg[edit]

Image:Shade the changing man22.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Shades of Shade[edit]

"In fact, Shade had five different forms throughout the series' run: a red-headed mopey poet; a woman; a black-haired madman; a red-haired, emotionless mod; and a bedraggled, unshaven obsessive."

The female form was too brief to mention. He didn't learn anything from it, he was just forced to face things he already knew, and other than the gender-swap he wasn't noticeably different as a character. And 'heartless mod' is an oversimplification; until he made the decision to remove his heart (a decision circumstance assisted him with quite conveniently,) he was a stoic spectator but not nearly as unfeeling as he wanted to be. If you have to have a fifth form to list, then the calloused metang-suited Shade would be the one. That's where you saw a shift of character so definite that he and everyone around him was aware of it. Enkephalin07 (talk) 03:38, 9 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"transgenderism"[edit]

This term is outmoded, and the "-ism" is considered irksome within trans community for reasons that I hope are self-explanatory on second thought. Follow the hyperlink and you will be redirected to an article that eschews the term entirely with good reason. I would edit the wording myself, probably to "transgender issues", but I am Wikipedia shy, so if someone else would like to take the initiative, it would be appreciated!
