membership statistics

On the Servas Open Doors article Servas has 13 000 members in 100 countries, on the Bob Luitweiler site linked it has 14 000 members in 160 countries. I propose someone from Servas to correct this. (15:19, 27 October 2005‎ 195.145.80.224)

I checked myself the current number of hosts in Servas at the date and there are 16034 members in 107 countries (I counted only countries where the list is not older than 2009). 81 of those 107 counties are member countries (They have the right to vote at the GA) The other are called National Groups.

merge dup article

There is another stub article 'Servas (Organisation)', which is about the very same thing in this Wikipedia. It should be deleted and links from 'servas' redirected to this article. Hitchcock (16:18, 1 November 2005‎ 195.145.80.224)

The stub is now a redirect. I'm interested in Servas, and I'll do some edits on the article as well. I might change the numbers mentioned. Guaka 16:00, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Servaslogo.png

Image:Servaslogo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. Servas

"There are over 16,000 Servas 'open doors' scattered throughout almost every country in the world, but are more present in wealthy countries. Due probably to a lack of ability to use internet, and having a conservative basis, Servas has not grown as most similar hospitality organizations born recently. 30 year ago, Servas had 8,000 members worldwide; it has just followed the general increase of population in each country. There are not official general statistics, but in Italy in 2007 the average age of members was 52 years old with a slight predominance of females."

Servas' mission is to promote peace and socail justice. How can it be referred to as "conservative." What is the meaning of this? I am the co-chair of the Washingtn, DC, ISA Servas group. For information on our organization, please do to www.uservas.org and link to our group.

Servas's policies are conservative - reluctance to permit electronic distribution of hostlists, for instance. The wording should probably be changed. This conservativism is also changing gradually. (Mark Hahn, Servas ICT) 13:59, 29 August 2012‎ Markhahn

It seems like the word "conservative" was being used to mean "slow to change". That wording is no longer in the article. Unfortunately, the article seems pretty stubby now, and does not say much about the long term trends of membership and how it is dealing with change over the years, the Internet, etc. -71.174.178.142 (talk) 15:13, 24 August 2017 (UTC)
